Fervent, animated, and lengthy anti-Bible/anti-theist argument first published in 1943. As the cover says: "DON'T BE AFRAID--READ THIS BOOK / ONLY CROOKS FEAR THE TRUTH." McCarthy, a self-described "absolute atheist," would later be listed as a consulting editor to the monthly Progressive World, started in 1947 as a publication of the newly formed American Progressive Association, later known as United Secularists of America (the organization from whom Madalyn Murray O'Hair would one day steal an enormous sum of money and mysteriously vanish.)
McCarthy was involved in several lawsuits against public school districts and the FCC for various impositions of religion and/or violation of atheists' equal right to free expression. He was involved in a minor scandal when, as business manager of Progressive World, he was accused of filing false financial reports; in 1958, before the matter could be resolved, he died.
