Original promotional poster announcing a reading by John Cage to celebrate the publication of SILENCE. Released in October 1961, Cage's seminal first book is also almost certainly his most important. Part poem, part aesthetic meditation, part essay, part musical composition, it remains ahead of its time. This poster adevertises a reading from one of the pieces from the book At Judith Meline and Julian Beck's Living Theatre, an important venue for Cage where he frequently performed. OCLC does not locate any holdings, though we are aware of one at Northwestern. An ephemeral production from a significant event.
