A large album documenting the activities of the Sunrise Ski Club in Valley Stream, New York during the 1953 to 1963 seasons. Organized events include a fundraising ball for the Olympic ski team, summer camping, spring picnics, ski outings and competitions, and annual dinners. Organized chronologically, the album’s author changes with the election of a new recording secretary each year, exhibiting a new perspective and style every season. Captions give context to the events, often written with humor, and some secretaries included narrative accounts to accompany photographs. Newspaper clippings and ephemera such as event invitations round out the album. A thorough document of midcentury recreation.
