A close and important association of this early Dorn title. Wilentz was the owner of the 8th Street Bookshop and founded Corinth Books, which in association with Leroi Jones' Totem Press (the publisher of this present volume) published Dorn's 1969 collection HANDS UP! Corinth and Totem's association was long and fruitful, publishing "many of the era's defining poetry collections" (Diggory 148), such as Ginsberg's EMPTY MIRROR and Kerouac's THE SCRIPTURE OF THE GOLDEN ENTERNITY. Wilentz would later title a biogrphical essay “In My Youth I Was a Tireless Reader" after Dorn's poem "In My Youth I Was a Tireless Dancer.” [Streeter A3].
