A sumptuous and gorgeous production commissioned by Penn Mutual Insurance on the death of its first president, Dr. R. Allison Miller. Dr. Miller, a dentist in Huntingdon PA before becoming an agent and trustee of Penn Mutual, was elected as the company's president in 1884 and served until his death in 1905. The full-color and full-page engrossing and calligraphy is superb, so detailed in places it appears almost engraved. A touching memento of a successful businessman, a lovely document of one of the oldest companies in the United States, and an extraordinary example of turn-of-the-century calligraphy.
