Item #13643
An excellent association of this infamous poetic hoax, inscribed by Witter Bynner to Karl Shapiro. Shapiro served as Poet Laureate at the Library of Congress, the same entity which administers the Witter Bynner Prize, given each year to two poets selected by the current Poet Laureate. A satire directed at the experimental "isms" invented and championed by Ezra Pound from 1912-1915, Imagism & Vorticism, SPECTRA instead was mistaken as that which is was attempting to mock: a new verse movement.
